We have reduced the purchase price of a Plant Base license by £5 to just £20.
This is to coincide with the release of version 2.1.7
There is no definite plan about whether this will be a permanent price change or not, we will see how things go!

Due to the ridiculously high number of attempted spammer registrations, the ability to self-register a username for this blog has been removed.
An approval system for new registration was already in place, and very effective. However, the huge volume combined with my limited time means that I can no longer deal with the administration for the approvals and/or rejections.
Plant Base for Android in now available on Google Play.
To accompany the main app, a simple and free Data File Support app has also been released. This provides three file maintenance functions that are not included in the main app. A first essential for new users who do not run the PC or Mac editions is the database file download, which will install the database onto the device ready for the main app to run. So the entire install can be done on the device, without the need for a PC or Mac. The Data Support app also has an Import function that will be useful when there is an updated database release. There is also a database compact function, which may be good for some people.
Version 1.27 of the Plant Base for Android app is available for download by registered users. At the moment this is still part of the Beta test phase, but we are treating this version as the first candidate for general release.
There is a new version the Plant Base for Android app – 1.25. This continues the Beta phase. Only very minor changes since the previous version, but has the addition of an entire new section for plant record References. This mirrors the references function of the desktop editions. The section was intentionally omitted for the first Beta release.
We are now starting Beta testing of the Plant Base for Android on-board database edition. The Beta test download is available to registered users of Plant Base for PC and Mac. All the details, download and installation guide will be published on the main website very soon.
A new version of Plant Base is released – 2.1.6. This time it includes updated database contents, which is at Release 26.
The program version is basically a minor maintenance release, with no obvious big changes. The main incentive for the release was to bring the executable build up to the latest available code complier and database engine. This gave opportunities to improve the code efficiency and possibly program stability. This resulted in a lot of internal code changes and the work kept me busy for the last couple of months.
I’m a bit of a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to web design – I like simple informative web pages that just “do the job” and don’t tend to follow the latest design fashions. So our site has not changed overall for a long time. However, there is a specific issue that clearly needs improvement, which is accessibly for mobile devices. Our old method of having a small set of pages specifically for mobiles is simply not good enough nowadays.
Finally found time to complete the release of an updated Plant Base program version. This is 2.1.5 and it’s a fairly minor maintenance release, but the update should be worthwhile for most existing users. It is of course now the current downloadable version for all new users.
There has been very little business activity in recent months due to our house move. We have been totally preoccupied by the huge amount of practical issues involved – this was much more than a change of house and more a change of life-style in a very different location!
